Ken Priestly

Ken Priestley – Chairman

Ken has been a member of our board since 2006. His experience of running his own successful business and his personal experiences with mental health make him an extremely valuable member of our board as well as our current Chair.

He says “I was referred to the service that The Cellar Trust offered and it was life changing for me. I stayed involved as a volunteer in the woodwork department and then became a member of the Board when asked by the management team at the Trust back in 2006.”

Duncan Ault – Treasurer

Duncan Ault is our Treasurer and has been on the Board for over 6 years.  Duncan’s background was as Partner of family wholesale business. He is a Qualified Chartered Accountant and current Chairman of Burley in Wharfedale Community Trust. His areas of expertise are finance and general management.

He says “When I was asked to be part of the Board, I was enthusiastic about getting involved with an important local charity.”

Christine Freeth – Board Member

Chrissie joined the board in 2012. She is a Hospital Manager for Bradford District Care Trust, sitting on an independent panel to which individuals sectioned under the mental health act can appeal their detention. Chrissie also sits on the Mental Health Legislation Committee and is also an appropriate adult, supporting vulnerable adults who have been taken into custody.


She says “I am a local resident having lived in Saltaire for around fifteen years and I joined the Board in 2012 because their work supporting vulnerable adults is so valuable and important.”

David Cockett

David Cockett – Board Member

David has been a member of our board for 5 years. He was most recently Head of Learning Support at Shipley College and has significant experience in education and training. His work with young people and adults who are autistic or have other learning difficulties gives him a unique perspective for our charity.

 He says “I was invited to join the board by CEO to be a representative from the education sector and enjoy offering my expertise to the organization.”

Charles Chadwick – Board Member

Charles has been a member of our board since 2015. He qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and has specialised in professional negligence litigation since 1998. Charles has advised professionals and their insurers on all aspects of liability including interpretation of insurance contracts and regulatory issues governing the various professions of his clients.

He says ““With my experience in running high value complex cases to trial in the High Court and Court of Appeal, I wanted to bring my mediation and arbitration skills to The Cellar Trust.”

Laura Flatman – Board Member

Laura has been a member of the Board since 2015. She is Human Resources Manager at Leeds Beckett University and has extensive experience in public sector organisations in the UK and Ireland. Her expertise is in employee engagement and relations, change management, wellbeing, talent management and getting the best from and for people.

She says “I am passionate about the work of The Cellar Trust; providing vital support to people recovering from mental health problems. I also wanted to give my time and expertise to support the work of The Cellar Trust; to make a difference to the lives of other people.”

Vicky Hayhurst – Board Member

Vicky has been a member of our board since 2015. Vicky’s career started at the Royal Bank of Scotland Group where she held internal communications, marketing and sales management positions. Vicky moved into higher education in 2005 leading marketing and fundraising in senior roles before joining Revolution Viewing as the Commercial Director in January 2015 where she focuses mainly on developing university client relationships and products.

 He says “She says “I joined the Board because I wanted to help such an impactful charity.”

All board members are registered as trustees of the charity and directors of the company.
