With the awards presented by Esther McVey – Minister for Employment and attended by Philip Davies MP and The Lord Mayor Of Bradford – Councillor Khadim Hussain, yesterday’s 3rd Mental Wealth Awards went fabulously well. It was a great occasion for The Cellar Trust, with Ms McVey recognising in her speech our “reputation” that is rapidly spreading and how we are “changing people’s lives”.
The awards were held in the boardroom at Bradford City AFC Valley Parade Stadium and superbly compered once again this year by Kevin Archer of BCB Radio. A delicious three course lunch was served prior to the awards being given.
Our CEO, Marilyn Beech opened proceedings with her review of the year including a DVD presentation from one of our clients. In her speech Marilyn emphasised the importance of change and how much we have grown as an organisation through those changes.
Awards were first presented to 3 clients who have passed their City & Guilds NVQ Level 1 in Food Preparation and Cooking. These were followed by the main awards of the year – Voluntary Provider, Work Placement, Mental Health Professional, Big Society and Employer of the Year. After this came the awards for all those Cellar Trust clients who have secured employment in 2013 which also included reflections from some of those clients. The afternoon was rounded off nicely with a key note speech from Esther McVey herself.
It was a fantastic day, thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. We’d like to offer a huge CONGRATULATIONS to all the award winners and our sincere gratitude to our sponsors – Hazzad Embroidery & Promotional Gifts and Bradford City AFC and to all who helped make it the special occasion it was. Thank you!
The last word goes to Marilyn though: “The Mental Wealth Awards always lift everyone’s spirits in the middle of a dark and miserable winter. It is a celebration of the resilience of the human spirit!”
