Following successful funding bids to The Big Lottery and the Trusthouse Charitable Foundation, we’re about to start work on the development of a new skill shops curriculum. Our approach to recovery and learning has always been based on the needs of the individual – one size doesn’t fit all. The skill shops curriculum will ensure that we continue to respond in a flexible way to each individual we work with, whilst also introducing structured skills development opportunities across our skill shops, giving service users an even greater sense of progress and achievement.
The curriculum will create a learning framework within each skill shop offering new opportunities for service users to develop knowledge, skills and experience that will give them a better chance of finding paid employment and accessing mainstream education. It will be supported by learning and resource materials and a learning log which will provide a documented record of achievement. This will enable service-users to work towards specific goals that will build their confidence and support transition into accredited vocational training and employment.
