Work Aid

Going back to work after a period of mental ill-health can be extremely challenging, as can staying in work when you’re dealing with mental health issues. Work Aid, is our free monthly support group designed specifically to help people transition back into employment and remain healthy while working.

What is Work Aid?

Research shows that for the majority of people, maintaining employment is an important part of their overall wellbeing. That is why our monthly Work Aid support group offers practical support and advice on how to stay well at work.

Usually around 20 people join us for each Work Aid group; it’s a relaxed, informal and supportive atmosphere where people share their experiences and support each other.

What happens at a Work Aid group?

Work Aid groups are held on a monthly basis and typically last two hours. They usually begin with a free meal in our Cellar Trust Cafe which sets up a relaxed, social atmosphere for the evening. This is followed by a presentation and discussion on topics themed to help you to manage your health and wellbeing while in employment.

The second half of the evening is a peer support session, giving you an opportunity to discuss problems you may be experiencing either in work or as you considering returning to work after having time off sick.

Where is Work Aid held?

Work Aid is held once a month at our main site in Shipley, you can find our address here.

Who can attend Work Aid?

Work Aid is open to anyone living in within the Bradford District, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven areas, who is experiencing a mental health problem, provided they are either in employment or on sick leave from work.
