Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised, accredited course designed to help you identify, understand and support a person who maybe developing or have a mental health problem. In the same way as we learn physical first aid, MHFA helps us identify the crucial signs of mental ill-health and respond appropriately.

This is a 2 day course which will discuss in depth about individual mental health conditions and how to apply MHFA in each instance. The conditions covered include depression, anxiety disorders (including eating disorders, self-harm, and obsessive compulsive disorder), personality disorders and psychosis. It also covers suicide.

MHFA, like first aid, can be applied in your work place and your personal life and help give you the confidence to respond to mental health crises in a safe and appropriate way.

The course will be delivered by one of The Cellar Trusts Mental Health Support and Development Specialists and a Senior Lecturer in Psychology from Notre Dame College, Leeds.
