Our courses

We’ll be hosting a series of FREE one-hour, two-hour and three-hour online courses and webinars throughout the year.

The sessions will provide information and awareness on a range of topics and have been specially selected to support the wider community in response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

Sessions will be facilitated by Cellar Trust staff. They will take place online via Zoom and will be delivered in a presentation/webinar format with opportunities to ask questions at the end.

The Cellar Trust Online: Stress Buster

Stress can impact many areas of life. In this course we’ll focus on understanding the impact of stress and how it affects the way we think, feel and behave.

We’ll also help you with techniques for managing and controlling stress, including useful tools and tips. We can also signpost you to other self to help resources, as well as information on how to access further, free of charge, support.

The Cellar Trust Online: Improving Sleep

This session aims to provide information about sleep and understand the different types, to identify how much sleep we need, and how we can establish good sleep habits. It also looks at what causes sleep problems and how to overcome them.

The Cellar Trust Online: Skills for Being Well in adversity

Wednesdays – 11am to 1pm (6 weeks)

The Skills for Being Well in Adversity course is a 6-week course that will be held weekly for 2 hours per session. Each week, members will have a discussion around different topics such as self-care, managing stress and anxiety, and thinking styles and beliefs.

The course aims to help members cope with triggers, look at how they can deal with difficult feelings, give members time to reflect, and also look at ways in which they can move forward.

The Cellar Trust Online: Trauma Informed Practice

Group 1 – 19th and 26th May – 1.30pm to 4.30pm

Group 2 – 23rd and 30th June – 1.30pm to 4.30pm

Running over two half days, this training course provides a comprehensive introduction to Trauma Informed Practice (TIP) and is ideal for professionals working with adults or families impacted by trauma. The course draws on current research to help understand the diversity of human suffering, and explores alternative explanations of emotional distress by considering the meanings that are given to the experiences we have. By the end of the course participants will have developed a deeper understanding of the principles and application of TIP, the role of the Power Threat Meaning Framework and its relationship to recovery and support approaches.

The Cellar Trust Online: Low Mood

This course outlines the effects of low mood, how it can change our patterns of thought, and highlights associated feelings and behaviours involved. It aims to help you understand more about the causes of low mood and develop effective practical ways of recognising, managing, and controlling it. The Cellar Trust Online: Suicide Awareness

This aims to improve our awareness of causes, risk factors, and warning signs for suicide. The session will introduce different ways to engage with people feeling suicidal, including how to both talk and listen to people feeling suicidal. This is delivered in partnership with MyWellbeing College.

The Cellar Trust Online: Employment Workshops

Tuesdays – 1pm to 2pm (4 weeks)

We are running a FREE four week online workshop course throughout June to help you improve your employability skills and learn useful job search tips and techniques. Our workshops are open to everyone but do require booking in advance as places are limited. Sessions last for one hour and are delivered online via Zoom.

Session 1: Employment & Mental Health – 1st June 2021
The first session examines the relationship between mental health and employment by looking at the Equality Act 2010 and discussing the pros/cons of mental health disclosure. The session also summarises the legal rights and requirements of employers and outlines practical tools that can be used to support mental health at work.

Session 2: Skills & Strategy – 8th June 2021
This session aims to help participants to recognise their own skills and strengths as potential employees and to understand the types of skills that employers are looking for. It also examines the job market and outlines different aspects to consider in order to develop an effective job search strategy.

Session 3: Job Applications & STAR Method – 15th June 2021
This session takes a closer look at the application process including how to better understand and complete job application forms and why employers use them. The second half of the session builds upon this knowledge through an in-depth discussion of the STAR method and how this can be used within employability.

Session 4: Writing for Employment & Interviews – 22nd June 2021
This session aims to improve individuals’ ability to write effectively and professionally during their job search including how to write personal profiles and cover letters. The session also discusses appropriate language to use within job applications and best practice when writing CVs.

The final session takes a closer look at the interview process and outlines different types of interview, what to expect for each and what employers are looking for. The workshop also discusses how the STAR method can be used within interview situations and provides hints and tips to help jobseekers perform on the day.
